A Gift to the Future
Essex High Seniors Donate Solar System to School

When the senior class at Essex High School in Essex, Vermont, raised funds for a solar power installation, the school turned to Independent Power to design and install the grid-tie solar power system, which will be connected into Green Mountain Power’s utility grid.

Physics teacher Scott Pennington was the guiding force behind implementing the dream of the 2009 senior class to leave a solar electric system for the benefit of future students.

The demonstration 1kW net-metered PV system will be linked to the internet and used as a tool to help teach renewable energy at the Essex High. Enphase micro Inverters are used along with Sharp 170W modules on a Power-Fab ballasted roof mount rack.
